Creature Process

From sketch to completion it took roughly 6 days on and off. The initial sketch was done on a teeny tiny sketchbook, but when I finished it I knew I wanted to follow it through to Photoshop. At first i wanted to have a plain background as though i was doing character design. At that time i set the light source top left and the creature was quite bright. It wasn’t until i decided i wanted the creature in a setting that i had to redo the lighting. This meant doing a kind of back lighting on the creature and making it darker and richer. Now that the creature was going to be in a setting, i had a wee think about composition.
Overall i don’t think it was too bad an attempt. But lots of practice still to go.
